Some people ask me what projects have I done and this one has been on the site for awhile but here’s a post to make it easier for folks to grasp. I produced the whole record with a few outside beats (an 88-Keys record and a Devin The Dude cut) and this is really my 2nd effort on my own. Ebony & Ivory was the first joint I did. I spent a little bit of time reworking A SkyWalker’s song “1 Nite” that was on his project BEing A SkyWalker, a project produced by E Dot Spencer. Uncle Wille Jones, Soul Sensation
This jam right here comes from “Uncle” Willie Jones, Soul Sensation. This was recorded back in the winter of 2007/08 in Dayton, Ohio in a closet studio. Willie Jones has been on hiatus for much of the last two years due to legal issues regarding an altercation with some industry artists over who truly started a trend that took the music industry by storm. When asked about the lasting effects of the trend and how it started, Jones had this to say:
I started ALL OF THAT. I truly started that. You can hear it in the record. The industry used my style and never paid me. I’ve never seen a check, never got a shout out. I am the originator of all of that. You can hear it in the record. Ask about Willie Jones…I bet nobody will admit that they know who I am though! They don’t want y’all to know that I AM THE ORIGINATOR. I STARTED THE WHOLE STYLE. But then I got into an altercation with some industry guys and caught a bid and in my plea bargain I had to discontinue use of the style but I’m back. I have to let the world know what is real and what is fake. I just want the world to know who I am and know that I am…THE O-RI-GIN-A-TOR.

How do high do folks wanna get? I love that I put a video together for this. Just having a good time editing and what not. I love this record. LOVE LOVE this record.

This is one of my favorite songs I put together in 2009. My first real attempt at something with an all electronic feel to it. That’s me programming, playing keys, and that solo is me too. I didn’t know I could play anything like that at all. That was Joe Zawinul and Chick Corea playing through me or something like that. Dual basslines, Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. And beautiful chords from Joe Sample and Herbie Hancock and drums that even Harvey Mason or Lenny White would love.
Mr. Kinetik loves jazz too. Oh yes.

Merry Christmas from Mr. Kinetik
Well, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. I don’t know the rest of the words to that song but I know of a few other songs I play every Christmas and even during the year. Most of these songs I grew up listening to and opening presents to…and some of ‘em I picked up along the way as an adult. You can expect to hear: N’SYNC (YES), Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Temptations, Mr. Kinetik (YEP), Sounds of Blackness, Run DMC, Alvin & The Chipmunks, Otis Redding and more. It’s funky, it’s soulful, it’s Christmas.
